Inwards

My God
and my truth
I saw
in a strange hour.
People's words
and orders were silent.
Good and bad
my soul forgot.
My God
and my truth
I dank
in my hour of anxiety.

My God
was salt darkness,
my truth
hard metal.
Deeply I trembled.
Naked I stood,
washed by waves
of cold truth,
cold, stark,
contemptuous truth -
my Truth
and my God.
